I was watching an episode about green tea and I just wanted to share my passion for healthy living. I am a big fan of green tea. I started drinking green tea in my 20s. I am still a big fan. While I was searching for information for my book, I found out. I was not drinking enough of it. To get the full benefits, I must drink 4 cups every day.
I normally drink green tea with my breakfast I have a cup of green tea and a cup of Hershey’s special dark chocolate. I am into healthy diet and healthy lifestyle. When I found out I have to drink four cups to get the full benefit I doubled my tea pods and drink two cups till noon. Green tea does not have as much caffeine like coffee does. I learned about it’s benefits from my Japanese, Korean and Chinese friends in the seventies. They all have beautiful skin. Ever since then, it is a part of my daily routine . Their beautiful skin encouraged me to started drinking green tea.. I am so thankful that they were a part of my life. Finding out about the benefits of green tea these days, I feel blessed . I am not a doctor or a health care provider. I am sharing this information from my research and experiences, through the years.
#1. Green tea has less caffeine than coffee. It contains the amino acid L-theanine which works well with caffeine to improve brain function. It has polyphenol antioxidants, including a catechin called ,EGC, that may prevent cell damage. It is a hydrating beverage. These substances are beneficial for healthy living.
#2. May help reduce weight, particularly in the abdomen area.
#3. Green tea, keeps you alert. caffeine, is a stimulant to boost brain function.
#4. According to research green tea may increases fat burning and boost metabolic rate. If you buy any fat burning supplement, green tea will be in there.
#5. Antioxidant in green tea may lower the risk of some cancer. Oxidative damage may lead to chronic disease. Research has shown green tea drinkers are less likely to develop the ff.
a. Breast cancer-Studies show women drank green tea has 20-30% lower risk of developing breast cancer’
b. Prostate cancer-man who drank green has lower risk of developing prostate cancer
c. Colorectal cancer- green tea drinkers are 42% less likely to develop colorectal cancer. To get the most health benefit, don’t add milk.
#6 May protect the brain from aging: Alzheimer’s a common neurodegenerative cause of dementia in old people and Parkinson’s disease involving the death of dopamine producing neurons in the brain.
#7, May reduce bad breath. Catechin in green tea reduce the growth of bacteria in the mouth.
#8. May help prevent type 2 diabetes. Study shows green tea may improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood sugar level and may also lower type 2 diabetes.
#9. Green tea may lower total and LDL (bad) cholesterol . Studies show that people who drink green tea have lower risk of cardiovascular disease.

catechin- A substance found in tea that helps protect cells from damage called free radical. This damage may increase the risk of cancer and other disease.
L-theanine- is an amino acid found primarily in green tea and black tea and some mushroom. It may help ease anxiety, stress and reduce insomnia. Paired with caffeine, it increases focus.
dopamine- A chemical released in the brain that makes you feel good . It is allowing you to feel pleasure, satisfaction and motivation.
